Leonid Sergei Kaindral, General of the Northern Armies and Lord Governor of the Skovari Provences.

If being a sociopathic lunatic counts as skill, this guy was rolling 20’s. Ordered the execution of thousands, marched his men to death, and never lost a battle in his career. His enemies often ended up six feet under, regardless if they wore the same uniform as he did or not. Generally speaking, this guy was bad news.

No wonder the HR named a province after him.

The Elecians (EE-leash-uns). Just some “poor bastards” that the HR is beating up on around 830aw. Their story is that they’re religious zealots, looking for the “promised land” on the Eastern Continent. They went and made themselves a new home, but they chose a strip of land a little too close to the Highland Republic, and find themselves suffering invasion.

I wanted to give them the feel of “medieval Christian monks” with guns.

Concept work for a character in the short story I’m writing. More angry faces! I hadn’t originally planned for him to be such a serious character, but after I made a few of the other (more likeable) characters that he is surrounded with, I decided to allow him to be more grounded, to be a foil for the others as well as to root the tone of the story back to the slightly darker themes of Corinth.

Concept work for the Republique de Reynare, some of the “good guys” in the Corinth setting. They fancy themselves the “protectors” of the world, always getting in the way of evil geniuses’ plans to murder millions and stuff like that. In the DnD setting “Corinth”, I am the primary creative force behind a particular group of nasties known as the Highland Republic. Angry, imperialistic, and violent, these bastards are inspired by a mishmash of various imperial forces throughout Europe’s history, from the French to the Romans. I am not going to lie when I say that “these guys are six and one half fucktons of fun to draw and create material for.” The fact they ooze that snobby “lawful evil” makes their characters two dimensional on the surface, perfect for PCs to shoot full of holes, yet they have a depth of character to them which makes them a lot of fun to play a part of.

In the DnD setting, my buddy Pat has this sweet idea for a band of Volkari (wolf-people) special forces known as the “Blackpelts”. I drew one up a few months ago. I was going for a “KGB in Afghanistan” feel with simple clothing and weapons. I wanted the feel to be that these are dangerous soldiers, rather than soldiers with lots of gizmos (which seems to be the trend nowadays).

Concept work for the bad(der?) guys in the setting, the Jerodians. I wanted them to have the feel of being an industrialized society, but one which is only barely hanging in there. When they go rockin’ north from time to time, it is usually not a good day for anyone who happens to be along their path.
